Since the shipment of school shirts' has been delayed, we will be permitting the use of non-school shirts (solid color T-shirt or polo) FOR THE TWO WEEKS OF SCHOOL ONLY. This is from August 18 - 29 only.

Beginning the week of Tuesday September 2, ALL SHIRTS WORN AT OKEEHEELEE MIDDLE SCHOOL MUST BE SHIRTS PURCHASED HERE AT OKEEHEELEE MIDDLE SCHOOL.

Summer Reading Project (2014)

SUMMER READING PROJECTS are DUE September 5, 2014 to your Language Arts teacher.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:

1. First, download a copy of the Summer Reading List for the grade you are GOING INTO.

2. Next, select ONE title from the appropriate list to read.

3. You may borrow the books from the Palm Beach County Library System, or purchase on your own. Our local Barnes and Noble in Wellington also has our Summer Reading Lists.

4. The Summer Reading List is a suggested list only. You may choose any book that is on your reading level.

5. Finally, complete the Summer Reading PROJECT.

The PROJECT and READING COUNTS QUIZ on your selected title will be your first grade in your Fall Language Arts class. All SUMMER READING PROJECTS are DUE September 5, 2014 to your Language Arts teacher.

Incoming Grade 6 Student Guidelines

1. Select a book from the Grade 6 Summer Reading List that you would like to read. Lexiles, genres, and synopses have been provided to help guide your decision.

2. For your summer reading project, you must complete a Tri-fold BROCHURE to advertise the book that you read.

3. Be sure you have all of the requirements for the front, interior, and back of the brochure.

4. Be prepared to take your first Reading Counts Quiz on your selected title during the first two weeks of school.

5. All work is due September 5, 2014 to your Language Arts teacher.

Incoming Grade 7 & 8 Student Guidelines

1. Select a book from the Grade 7 Summer Reading List that you would like to read. Lexiles, genres, and synopses have been provided to help guide your decision.

2. Titles with an asterisk [*] are for struggling readers ONLY! If you will be in a Regular or Advanced Language Arts class in the fall, these summer reading titles will be UNACCEPTABLE.

3. Titles with a carrot [^] are above lexile for the grade level, but can be chosen by any student.

4. For your summer reading project, you must complete the NOVEL PROJECT.

5. You need 30 combined points to receive full credit for your novel project. You may earn the 30 points by completing any combination of mini project assignments.

6. Be sure to complete all of the requirements for full credit on each part of your project.

7. Be prepared to take your first Reading Counts Quiz on your selected title during the first two weeks of school.

8. All work is due September 5, 2014 to your Language Arts teacher.
