Dr. Samore has been named Florida’s principal of the year by a statewide organization of middle and high school administrators. Dr. Samore will also be a candidate for the national award announced in October. Dr. Samore was selected by the Florida Association of School Administrators.

Okeeheelee Middle School has just completed its annual Junior Model United Nations. It is the only bilingual JMUN in the state of Florida. Students Skyped with Málaga, Spain debating about the major global issues impacting the world.

The William T. Dwyer Awards for Excellence in Education was established in 1985 to honor outstanding educators from public and private schools in Palm Beach County. Teachers are nominated by their peers at individual schools.
Mrs. Burgos was chossen as one of the five finalists for middle school. A judging committee interviews each of the 5 finalists and one winer is choosen. Mrs. Burgos receives a $3,000 check and a personalized plaque. Okeeheelee Middle School will also receive $1,250 for the school to use for educational purposes.
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s (HCC) Education Award is given each year to the educational institution which supports the development and celebration of Hispanic cultures. Okeeheelee Middle School was competing with fellow finalists Lynn and Northwood Universities.
